Hampton Bays Happenings

Hampton Bays is open year round!

Our beaches are open 365 days a year-- Head over the Ponquogue Bridge to Dune Road to visit Old Ponquogue Bridge Marine Park and Fishing Pier, Ponquogue Beach (lifeguard, concessions and restrooms open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but pavilion and parking lot are open dawn to dusk) and the Shinneock Inlet.  Local tip--visit one of our delis, order a BECSPK (bacon-egg-cheese-salt-pepper-ketchup) or your favorite sandwich and enjoy watching the waves.  In the colder months you'll be able to see seals frolic in the inlet and bay or sunning themselves on the sandbars.

Cruising on the bays...take it slow or fast

Depending on your mood, you can rent a kayak, SUP or jet ski at one of our local marinas.  Your hotel may also have equipment you can borrow.

Catch of the Day  Fishing is a mainstay for Hampton Bays locals and visitors.  You can charter a boat from a marina, you can try your luck on the Shinnecock Star or you can get outfitted at one of our local bait and tackle shops and try surfcasting from the beach.  And there's always clamming in the bay.  Check with southamptontownny.gov for permit requirements

Are you happy camper?  Visit Sears Bellow County Park, Bellows Pond Road, Hampton Bays for year round camping , hiking and fishing.  Call  631-852-8290 or visit https://www.suffolkcountyny.gov/Departments/Parks/Our-Parks/Sears-Bellows-County-Park for availability.

Nestled within the Long Island Pine Barrens, Sears Bellows offers a broad range of recreational opportunities to Suffolk County residents and tourists. Campsites for both tents and trailers are available. Rowboat rentals are offered on freshwater Bellows Pond. Sears Bellows' extensive trail system attracts hikers and horseback riders from all points, east and west. Riders may use the park with a horseback riding permit. This park is closed to certain activities during waterfowl hunting season. Sears Bellows Park is a sportsman's paradise. Freshwater fishing for bluegill, bass, perch and pickerel, with bait, is permitted between sunrise and sunset. New York State regulations apply to all sporting activities.
